The bigger storyline, though: Josh Simmons is out with a back issue, which means undrafted rookie Kahlil Benson is stepping into a starting spot at left tackle, his first career start, protecting the blind side, at a position he never played in college. Reid confirmed it himself: "We're comfortable with Kahlil on either side; he has been playing the left side, so I feel comfortable with that... If he has to be the left tackle, then he's the left tackle. And we roll with it. That's just how it goes."
Expectations heading in are huge. This is the first game since missing the playoffs for the first time since 2014, and the Chiefs have historically opened strong.
